Breaking the silence of psychological impact while working from home during COVID: implications for workplace learning

COVID-19 has led to alternative work arrangements for many organizations. Working from home (WFH) is an example, but it could lead psychological effects affecting employees’ attitudes and behaviour towards their work. This paper aims explore the impact of WFH on learning engagement. A case study a multinational training academy was conducted over 12-month period through telephone virtual calls, reaching out total 1,318 employees. can be classified into planned (expected) unplanned (unexpected). Employees in arrangement coped better due sufficient preparation than group that experienced disorientation with transitions. Despite initial resistance, gradually accepted able regulate response longer-term view In contrast, reacted stronger emotion adopted transient The extends concept work-life boundaries orientation based It also contributes workplace job demand-resources perspective relation research gives voice employees working isolation, helping them reconnect themselves navigate uncertainty HRD perspective.
